I feel like I'm playing this game wrong, and it's driving me bananas.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 11:15 PM PDT

To preface, I played the original on the PS2 years ago, I just don't remember it very well. I did beat it, and thoroughly. So I know it's possible.

That being said, I'm playing the PS4 'final mix' version on a PS5, and I feel like I just don't know what I'm doing.

Manual or auto, the camera is absolutely mind-boggingly bad. I feel like all I do is fight the camera. I can't see what the hell is going on in most fights, it's just swinging all over the place, and low to the action.

The fights seem to drag on and on.. even basic heartless, I feel as though I'm just button mashing my way through and getting slapped around a LOT, and clanging on defenses a lot. I don't remember the combat feeling like this at all. Certainly not to this extent. I'm playing on normal difficulty.

It took me an hour to beat Trickster in Wonderland, and even then I feel like it was mostly just attrition + luck. I could very rarely jump high enough to hit him, and getting on the table to hit him was an exercise in tedium because I could only get one or two smacks in before I'd fall and have to do it again. And again. Over and over. Meanwhile, Donald & Goofy are dead.. always dead. Donald goes down FAST and OFTEN, and that's also something I do not remember being a problem. Especially early in the game?

I'm level 12 right now (Donald is 11, Goofy is 15 somehow), and attempted the Coliseum and that was a horrific joke at my expense. Not only did I barely squeak through the prelims, but Cloud kicked my face in (all the walkthroughs very casually talk about beating him...), and Cerberus was absolutely impossible.

I don't have much munny, but what little I did have I spent on the new weapons for Don/Goof and as many potions as I could carry. I burn through that stuff like it's going out of style.

I honest to god don't remember the game feeling or playing like this.. and as it stands right now, it feels like I'm 20 levels underleveled for what I'm trying to do. Meanwhile combat feels frenetic and exhausting/button-mashy, and I really don't know how to proceed with the game except for .. going back to Traverse Town and grinding for a few hours?

What am I doing wrong? This is making me feel super old and stupid.

Playing KH2.5. First time playing KH2 in 10 or 11 years

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 10:12 PM PDT

I love how in the beginning if the game they make such a point to emphasize everything that happened in KH1 as if to get the player up to speed with what is going on. They make it seem like if you didn't even play KH1 then you can still enjoy KH2. BUT In reality, the story makes ZERO sense unless you played CoM or at least know what happened in CoM. Just funny to me because they really should emphasize CoM story more during the beginning parts so you know what's happening. (I played CoM on gba a decade ago. But i know plenty of people who didn't even know there was a KH gba game and bought KH2 and had no clue what was happening)

I just finished Re:Chain of Memories, so what do I do now? Do I play KH2, watch 358/2, or play Riku mode?

    Days and Coded

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 10:42 PM PDT

Question for everyone. Does anyone actually know what the reason to watch the Days and Coded movies on 1.5+2.5 is? I've seen conflicting answers, and I know they took the achievements for watching them out from 1.5 ReMIX, so what's the actual reason to watch them on 1.5 + 2.5? Thanks.
