Posted: 14 May 2020 10:49 PM PDT This list focuses on the actors who first played these roles for Disney and returned for the games, as well as the years they played those roles in the games. Thus, while several other actors have played these parts long before the games (e.g., Jim Cummings has been the official actor for Pooh since 1988), they will not be listed, though not for a lack of respect. Also, this doesn't count archival roles (young Simba, Mufasa, Boo). Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Peter Pan (1953)
Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968)
Tron (1982)
The Little Mermaid (1989)
Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Aladdin (1992)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
The Lion King (1994)
Toy Story (1996)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Hercules (1997)
Mulan (1998)
Tarzan (1999)
Lilo and Stitch (2002)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Chicken Little (2005)
Tangled (2010)
Frozen (2013)
Big Hero 6 (2014)

Posted: 14 May 2020 07:12 PM PDT Hello, thought the Kingdom Hearts Community might enjoy seeing the perspective of somebody who recently was exposed to the Kingdom Hearts series exactly a year ago at the beginning of summer. WARNING: This is a very long post and most of you guys probably won't find it interesting but I tried my best to make it enjoyable to read. I'm assuming the majority of fans in the Kingdom Hearts Community grew up with these games and had decades to think/theorize about the story as it came out. I figured it would be interesting to this community to see somebody who started the kingdom hearts series recently and played through all the games back-to-back. This is now one of my favorite series of all time. I hope you enjoy reading my experience! (btw, a little bit about me, I'm a 21 year old Junior in college studying Computer Science [hoping to be a video game programmer someday]. I always try to play video games or watch other people play them on youtube whenever I have free time. I love experiencing a story through video games more than anything else, such as gameplay, strategy, puzzle solving, etc.) ------ The Backstory ------ KH3 got announced and years of hype followed. It was one of those games the internet was wondering would ever come out. It wasn't until Summer 2018 that it seemed like KH3 was finally becoming a reality and got an official release date. Those E3 trailers (both the Frozen and Pirates ones) were incredible and really grabbed my attention, and this is coming from somebody that knew absolutely nothing about the KH games (except that the entire story was extremely complicated and complex). Also, I was a really huge fan in the CoD Zombies community and spent countless hours thinking about its story and theorizing with the community after every new map got released, so I was hoping the KH series was just as complex as everybody says and I wanted to digest and explore all the story that KH had to offer. I love games that make me think and try to have me put many story pieces together through subtle hints/themes. So, now that my attention has been piqued, I decided to wait until KH3 actually released and see everybody's responses of the game. I saw so many people happy with the results, and now that I knew there was a great current gen game waiting at the end of series, that encouraged me to get into the series the first chance I got. I waited for a sale. In Spring 2019, I believe I bought the entire All-In-One Package for $60 or $70. I had it bought and my future set, now I just had to plan out a time to grind through it all. I've been a very busy CS student these pasts years, and usually like to save big game experiences for a time when I have a break. I decided to wait until summer to start grinding through the series. I also knew at the time that most kingdom hearts fans waited over a decade for KH3, so I found it especially interesting how different the series would be to somebody that experienced every game back-to-back. I was going to be taking summer classes to get even further ahead in school, so I had exactly 4 weeks to get through as much as I could. And OMG, this was probably the best gaming experience I've ever had! ------ The Journey ------ I remember starting KH1 on May 10, 2019 on a Friday evening after the last exam of my Spring semester. I played it all weekend and the game felt alright, but it wasn't anything too great or impressive for awhile. I just figured it was due to it feeling like an older PS2 game. But it hooked me in good 2 days later on Sunday when I got to the Hollow Bastion. OMG, it was so good! From the point you start Hollow Bastion all the way to the credits was unbelievable. I fell in love with this game, Sora, all his friends, and their story from that point on. (Also I literally read all the Ansem Reports right before Riku revealed he was actually Ansem and I can't believe I almost missed that reveal). Before Hollow Bastion, I was starting to consider skipping some of the games in order to get to KH3 faster, but as soon as I experienced that last part of KH1, I decided I wanted to experience it ALL, even the lesser-spinoff stuff. And I'm glad I did! I finished up KH on Monday and decided I would come back after beating the other games. I spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday playing Sora's story in Chain of Memories, and all day Thursday and half of Friday on Riku's story. I was so curious in this part of the story, and started to really get into the themes with Riku battling his darkness and how Organization 13 introduced themselves for the first time in this game. I loved Organization 13's playful interactions with Sora the entire time and sprinkling constant story details across every cutscene. Those two days got me so engaged into the story and is why Chain of Memories is my favorite KH of all time. Also the gameplay spiced things up and let me experience something I had never seen before and I appreciate that. As soon as CoM credits rolled, I started KH2 on Friday (exactly one week after starting KH1). From KH2 onwards, I started playing every game on the hardest difficulty (Proud or Critical). I loved the beginning section with Roxas (even without seeing 358/2, I was so interested in Roxas's story). But my several day hype train started to die down slightly as I began playing as Sora and started to explore every world (mainly due to the lack of main story that they were giving). I was so addicted to the story following Chain of Memories and wanted to know more about Organization 13, but instead I had to go through hours of individual stories in other worlds, which wasn't bad (I love the Disney inclusions as well) but it wasn't what I was expecting either. Thankfully the combat in KH2 is so good that I enjoyed it the entire time. The pace picked back up for me the more I got towards the end, similar to KH1 (and BBS but I don't wanna get ahead of myself), and I'm really glad it did. Knowing that these games have a big story climax waiting to be unleashed at the end of the games is super rewarding. CoM is still my favorite KH game overall, but KH2 is my favorite gameplay-wise and is why I ended up playing this KH game for so much longer. I spent 8 days (longer than my KH1 and CoM time combined) on KH2, and ended up getting a platinum trophy in it (got it on 5/25/2019 on a Saturday). At this point, I was 2 weeks and 1 day in, and I had about a week and a half till my summer classes would start. I was starting to get tired of KH after playing three of the games in a row and I considered putting off the rest for another point, but decided to push through as much as I could, plus I was hungry for more story stuff as well. I watched 358/2 days the next afternoon, cried a bit, and then started Birth By Sleep that evening. I remember stopping for a few days and went back to play KH1 to get the speedrun trophy and started a proud mode run. The main reason I returned to KH1 was because I felt I hadn't spent enough time on that game after seeing how much time I put into KH2. However, I quickly found myself going back to BBS a few days later after completing my KH1 speedrun playthrough and getting halfway through my proud mode playthrough. Back to BBS, I took a few days on each of the 3 stories, and ended up spending exactly a week getting to the final episode. Terra, then Ven, then Aqua. I remember telling myself that I wanted to play more endgame stuff and attempt the platinum but I decided I already spent long enough with BBS, and I didn't have enough time. Plus, I could always return after KH3 if I wanted to. I finished BBS (6/6/2019, 12 days after finishing KH2) and loved it. My expectations were low when starting it but it genuinely felt like a fully polished KH game and not some side-off PSP game. I remember watching through ReCoded the next day. I didn't enjoy most of it, but I did like the end though. Any scene I get to see where Sora talks about friendship and amazing music plays in the background really hits me deep. Immediately after ReCoded, I tried to start Dream Drop Distance but didn't make it far. I made it past Traverse Town, saw Young Xehanort for the first time, was like WTF, then stopped for a few days because my summer classes officially started. -_- I really liked the momentum I carried for each kh game and the amount of progress I was able to make in single days. Therefore I decided to wait to finish DDD... ------ The Year Between ------ 6 months later during winter break I made my return. You see I started the Witcher 3 during fall break and played Death Stranding thru Christmas. I tried to go back to DDD before both those games and managed to get through a world each time, but DDD just really killed my momentum. I don't know if it's because of the game itself, or because I took such a long hiatus before returning. After Death Stranding, I still had a week till school would start back up again, so I decided to push through DDD. So far, DDD is the only story stuff in the series I still don't quite understand. At least with ReCoded, I could tell what they were trying to tell us story-wise. But DDD completely lost me with all the dream stuff/logic. Besides understanding the science of how dreams work and the intentions/plan of the bad guys in this game, I think I still managed to grasp the general setup it made for KH3. I finished DDD on January 18, 2020. KH3: ReMind was coming out in 3 days but I knew I didn't want to rush KH3 so I decided to skip ReMind and save it for when I played KH3 in the summer. (The rest of this post is more about my thoughts over the past few months following ReMind's release and preparing myself for KH3): ReMind came out and I avoided all spoilers. btw, I still have yet to spoil anything big KH3/wise for me and am proud of myself for that given it's been out for over a year now. The only thing I managed to get spoiled was through YouTube video titles I had barely glanced at. Stuff like "Aqua and Ventus and Xion saved." But this is about it. It's not a big deal since I kinda assumed everyone would be saved by the end and that every set of friends in this series would find a happy ending. I still have no clue how any of that stuff actually happened though so that's good. Anyways, ReMind came and went. I actually got FF7 Remake (my first FF game) while I was in school. This is when Covid-19 had just quarantined everybody so classes became slightly more lenient, and I could play FF7 Remake at night. Took me 3 weeks but I loved every minute of it. The point of this was I was getting KH vibes at times when playing (even though they feel like different games). This led me to instinctively buy the ReMind DLC prematurely and then I began watching the Back Cover movie (this was about 2 weeks ago). From there, I only had 0.2 and KH3 left. But it had been 1 entire year since I had my KH marathon so I needed a refresher. I started watching Everglow's Timeline Series on youtube earlier this week as my classes were dying down for the semester. My last exam ended a few days ago, and now I've got about one and a half weeks till my summer internship starts. Just today, I finished watching the BBS section of Everglow's video (up to part 33) and am starting the get that KH feeling again I had a year ago! I started 0.2 today... and I'm ready to start KH3 as soon as I feel ready to begin. I mainly wanted to share this very long post because I thought most of this community would love to see my journey with this series from last year. It's now become one of my favorite series of all time and I have yet to experience the game that grabbed my attention with this series in the first place: KH3. I'm still avoiding spoilers on KH3 but if you guys have any advise for me (gameplay or story-wise), I'll read your reply! Should I just start KH3 as soon as I finish 0.2? Or should I continue watching Everglow's series for a few more days and strengthen my knowledge on the story before playing KH3. If you guys have any specific questions about my reaction/response to certain parts when I was grinding through all these games, let me know, and I'd be happy to answer and give me specific details. If you're reading this, Thank You! I know this post is very long and most of you probably don't care, but I tried to write my words and sentences carefully so I this was an entertaining read for anybody that cared enough to read it. I honestly don't know if reading a random person's KH perspective will even be interesting or not, but I hope it was to some people. [link] [comments] | ||
