Posted: 16 May 2020 10:52 PM PDT Alright so, let's use KH1 as a sort of background, which is the one who almost everyone agrees has good writing: the keyblade is given to people that are special, people who've earned, people who are worthy: Sora gains the keyblade back because all his friends made his heart stronger, and he made those friends because he's a good boy Enter Chain of Memories: Riku develops as a person, and his heart becomes stronger, that gives him a keyblade you've got to understand this: the reason these games are highly rated writing-wise is because they have plenty of character development, however character development is a finite goldmine, and giving screentime to characters who's development is already done makes it for highly unsatisfying endings. this is the reason Sora seems to become less interesting as a result. The keyblade doesn't make you special, being special gives you one. now let's look at Kairi: She didn't earn her keyblade, she hasn't had an arc, she's hated by the fandom, she barely has screentime, doesn't have agency, and relies alot on the now mostly dead sora, in other words, she's perfect: A game gives her the opportunity to earn her keyblade by doing something worthy of having one, it gives her an arc, gives her more character and allows the fandom to see more positive things about her, gives her abit of agency, and most importantly: it allows her to do something WITHOUT Sora. in KH1 Kairi was willing to protect Sora and go to Hollow Bastion without a keyblade through sheer guts, why don't we see more of this? If there's a chance of Kairi showing bravery, the ability to develop (WITHOUT bullshittingly developing them off-screen) her powers, and generally ACTUALLY DOING SHIT, then she would redeem herself both ingame (by making up the fuckup that was dying to Xehanort and making Sora go poof) and also in a meta way (redeeming herself in the eyes of the fandom) Making her the playable character gives the chance of her doing stuff, and not the plot coming to her. Now here's the idea: Kairi feels guilty for making Sora go poof, Xion is also guilty for participating in the Xehanortganization, and Namine (who can totes wield a keyblade because she's Kairi's nobody)... is just happy to be there. Sora's disappearance has made their connections weaker, and as a result, their powers are weaker. (to make them lvl 1, You might say it doesn't make sense, but c'mon... nothing in this series does). So they travel around the worlds looking for Sora to both get those connections back, and rescue him. At the end, all their experiences and friends they made along the way made Kairi more independent, and as a result she rescues Sora not because she needs him, but because she loves him. This is good for several reasons, it mirrors the plot of KH1, but in reverse, it shows the consequences of KH3 had lasting effects on more characters, and at the very least, if all fails, it COULD probably give us a good influx of yuri fanart. now, the only negatives I see with this is that the series is written by Nomura, and he's a good artist, but shit writer. and that the Yozora stuff is already a thing, so if something like this ever happened, there's a good chance it wouldn't work through sheer execution, but at least it is SOMETHING. ANYTHING, THE 20 FUCKING MINUTES OF HER NOT BEING COMATOSE IN KH1 WERE GOOD, WE NEED MORE OF THAT SHIT PLEASE, SHE CAN BE A GOOD CHARACTER FFS [link] [comments] | ||

I beat Yozora on Critical for the first time! Posted: 16 May 2020 01:32 PM PDT Some of you may remember me awhile back for a post about how much I hated the fight with much whining on my part. Ever since then I've taken all criticism to heart and tried my best, and today, I finally beat him on Critical mode, and I feel fantastic! I want to thank everyone who offered advice that I've been referring back to a memorising ever since. Ever since I lost my right eye I've been doing more poorly in my favourite hobby, but today I finally feel confident that I haven't lost my touch after all. Yozora was the one challenge I wanted to conquer the most, and on the hardest difficulty, which I already struggled alot with, it was a daunting one, but I finally did it, and I feel great. I know for most people Critical mode and Yozora is old news, but for me this is huge, it's like a weight has lifted off of me, and now that's beaten one of my favourite games of the last few years at the hardest it had to offer, I feel incredibly satisfied. I've overcome my own physical limitations as well as the game itself. I think I'm gonna go back to some of the older titles one day and really try to master them as well. There's some superbosses I've never overcome, but after today, I think I can do that with some renewed confidence. And here's to Kingdom Hearts 4, whatever far off century it ends up released in!
