    KH3 Critical Thoughts

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 09:02 PM PDT

I went into KH3 playing normal (not lvl 1) critical as my first play through. For context, I played through 1.5, 2.5 & 2.8 over the course of a few months all on critical before booting up KH3 and I gotta say I actually enjoyed KH3's critical the most. I didn't cheese with links and only used attractions as 'lifesavers' (unlike BBS and DDD where I had to cheese with surge and balloon, although that could just be me with the command decks). Some bosses took me 10+ tries, others I smashed the first time. I only died in mob combat when I wasn't paying attention, and nothing felt unfair.

KH3's combat is probably the most fluid, and the most varied. Any playstyle that I could think of was viable, and the game actually encouraged me to use all the tools at my disposal in order to fight effectively. I had to think of the types of abilities I had on in order to ensure that the situation commands that popped up were to my liking. I did some reading and people think it's random. I don't think so, even though I don't really have definitive evidence, because I could basically ensure that I got the types of situation commands I wanted pretty much all the time, even without using critical converter.

Team AI is fantastic (controversial opinion?), Donald and Goofy never failed to heal me even though they were dead a lot (as is normal on critical). I only used food on the bosses I kept dying to, and I didn't do any grinding for levels/munny/synth mats. Also didn't really do gummi or synth for gear. Basically I think I played through the game as a normal person who didn't want to 100% everything, and critical was a satisfying experience.

I haven't gone through the DLC or the any of the secret/data bosses yet, so we'll see if I'll eat my words, but KH3 was probably the best gameplay experience after playing through everything back to back. Story is another matter, but I think we all have personal reasons why we keep coming back to KH story so I won't go into what I thought about it.

Do people agree, or am I on my own happy little island? :)

    Is guarding really necessary? [KH3]

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:51 PM PDT

I know the title sounds ridiculous, but I'm almost done with KH3 on Proud (albeit I've heard KH3 isn't too hard) and I've never actually guarded. I just roll like you would in Dark Souls and that seems to work fine. Is there any situation where standing still and guarding is preferable to just rolling out of the way of an attack?

Kh1 hint regarding Terra-Xehanort and Kairi in MoM

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 12:27 AM PDT

In Ansem Report 11 in KH1 it explicitly states that Terra-Xehanort sent Kairi out of Radiant Garden in order to find the Keyblade wielder who turned out to be Sora. Just thought this was a neat hint to what we see in MoM.

The Savage Key: A New Wielder Arises

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:11 PM PDT

(Not sure if anyone would be interested but this is the first Chapter of a story I've been working on. Always wanted to try my hand at writing for the series so decided to give it a shot with this more unique take on the franchise.)

It's said a single decision can affect many things often cited as the butterfly effect, well in this instance that idea shall be tested to its extremes. On this day in the history known to the masses two Organization Members VIII and XII would be sent out and surprisingly confront a powerful foe, despite this it was subsequently defeated thus proving to the latter that the man known as The Flurry of Dancing Flames would be a very useful ally. But in this World, something else would occur, in the original Number IX was supposed to be the one to go instead of his male counterpart, but chose to fake an illness to get out of the mission. Here that would not be the case and so unknowingly the boy known as Demyx would change the Universe forever. As they arrived at their destination Larxene looked around the World of Twilight Town never failing to give an almost serene atmosphere for her nothingness. If the World That Never Was served as a bastion of power for nobodies giving them strength like a raging typhoon this was a calm wave open and friendly to those outside of light and darkness unlike every other World.

"Hurry up waterboy I don't have all day." Sadly, that did not cease her scathing remarks especially for those she deemed slow and lazy compared to her speedy personality.

Such as her said companion who dragged his feet alongside her not at all interested in the mission. "I knew I should have faked being sick." He sighed and despite lacking any sort of feelings one would be forgiven for mistaking his words as exhaustion for said assignment. Speaking of which the one given to them by Saix was to investigate a strange signal going off in the tunnels of this world and report back after they figured out what was causing their heartless scanner to go wonky.

Preferably the newest member of the group known as Organization XIII would have preferred to do this alone, but as her "superior" put it she was not ready to go on missions by herself as it had only been a month today that she had joined the group. "Stop complaining and start looking. The sooner we find the source of whatever's jamming their precious scanner the sooner you can go back to playing death metal." Her intentional mistake bringing the brief bit of spine the Melodious Nocturne possessed back up.

"Don't compare my beautiful musical talent to that junk." He grumbled now managing to get a move on as they entered the tunnels and earning a hollow laugh from the Savage Nymph that echoed throughout. Honestly to the girl Demyx was so far probably one of the members she disliked the least, at least compared to guys like Saix who she despised because of his attitude. At least her current partner didn't act better than her unlike so many other members just because they were there before her, she also wondered if it had anything to do with sexism as well considering she was the only female in a group full of men but that was simply speculation. As they journeyed down the two found themselves constantly attacked by heartless but proved to be easy prey either against her electric knives or his torrents of water, it was one reason the two were often paired up as their elemental affinities were a perfect match and so when they worked together despite the clashing personalities brought out the best of their abilities. "These guys are showing up a lot more today than usual." Demyx noted as he finished off another Shadow with a water clone.

Larxene even though she suspected his cowardice brought that point up had to agree as usually she would have an easier time going through these tunnels but today was different. Call it a feeling that something strange was about to happen, which was ironic in of itself considering their status as heartless which makes the girl wonder why they were called nobodies in the first place and these creatures which have hearts inside of them are called heartless. "(Would make a lot more sense to switch the names in hindsight.)" The girl considered as they soon entered a wide-open area with water flowing from the right side of the entrance. "We've been through this entire area and still nothing. I'm starting to think this was all just one massive wild goose chase." She huffed annoyed that their search proved to be fruitless.

As Demyx went to go enjoy the pool of water he looked down at his reflection blue meeting blue and for a moment just enjoyed his own look, until he noticed something strange. Squinting he saw an inky blackness flowing through the water, but before he could mention it a sword flew out nearly decapitating him if not for a panicked back step allowed him to avoid certain death. "Woah!" He shouted falling back on his rear and gaining Larxene's attention who turned to see what had happened, and her eyes met a new type of heartless she had never seen before oozing darkness. The one trait she immediately eyed that made it stand out from the rest was that it held a sword with strange writing on it. Seeing it was about to strike again at Demyx the girl summoned her knives and sent out a few stopping the creature in its tracks blocking her thrown weaponry and allowing the Melodious Nocturne to scramble back up. "I guess this might be just what we were sent after." The male stating the obvious as he quickly backed away gaining some distance from the heartless as he summoned his signature Sitar.

The two nobodies immediately found themselves on the defensive this heartless proving to be far stronger than anything they had encountered before. Physical attacks proved to be only slightly effective as her knives were mostly blocked or if they did hit failed to do any real damage beyond chipping away at him. Their only saving grace proved to be magic as working together Demyx focused on his water clones surrounding the Invisible hitting and splashing the heartless while Larxene would follow up with powerful lightning attacks which in conjunction with her ally's moves seemed to be doing an admirable job whittling down this threat. On the other hand the heartless which they nicknamed The Invisible was a monster being able to tank so much damage and give out just as much as proven when the Savage Nymph took a bad hit from the dull end of its blade and still found it hurt considerably slowing her down slightly from the bruising to her ribs.

Dodging another swing of the blade Larxene got in close landing a kick to its back stunning the creature slightly. "Demyx hit him hard!" She cried and the nobody followed up shouting out a barrage of bubbles right on it. Now that it was soaked down to the bone if it had any Larxene summoned her strongest thunder attack seeing this was her chance to eliminate it. "Lightning!" She cried and in a brilliant flash of light the blot struck down ending The Invisible's life. Sighing in relief the girl smirked. "I'd say that taught these heartless a lesson."

For a few moments she basked in her victory until a cry echoed throughout and her eyes peered over and saw to her shock Demyx on the ground now injured and even worse the heartless they had seemingly beaten still alive. "B-but how?!" She then noticed it split itself into darkness before it surrounded her, only thanks to her quick reflexes and speed did she managed to hop away from a sword swing, but not enough to go unscathed as it grazed her arm. With her partner down and out she was alone to face this threat forced to continue dodging and taking pot shots when she could just to survive, but against this powerhouse in reality she only delayed the inevitable. Ducking a slash she stabbed the creature in the abdomen, but it showed no signs of recognizing the hit and just went for another swipe this time landing a direct hit to her stomach nearly killing her instantly. Collapsing to the floor she tried to make a stand but the pain was far too great as darkness began to leak out of her signaling she had taken too much damage.

With a cough she got to her knees looking up at the approaching creature and although she found it hard to believe she felt a sense of fear. After all her hard work to get this far she would die here alone against a pathetic heartless, for some reason that made her chest hot burning like fire at the thought as fear transformed into anger. (No! I can't die here, not to this thing. I've worked too hard to just get killed by some idiotic reject of darkness!)" The adrenaline surging like drug inside her veins riding high off of the emotion she was suddenly feeling allowing her to stand back up. To the nobody dying here so pathetically served as a harsh reminder of the person she was before, just knowing that only made this strange surge of strength even greater fueled by the demand to not end up the same weakling she viewed her somebody.

Now within striking distance The Invisible rose its arm preparing to finish her off. Looking up at what would be her ultimate destruction the girl curled her hand into a fist the rage now burning like lava inside her as darkness began to protrude from her body. "NO!" With the blade coming down she suddenly had the instinct to raise her own arm in defense.

    CLANG

Suddenly to her astonishment the heartless' sword seemed to stop in mid-strike and for a moment she wondered what had happened, until regaining a bit of clarity she noticed it had been herself that had done the action as in her hand a new weapon appeared. It was unlike anything Larxene had ever seen before with the handle being the strangest part of it all resembling that of a key if she had to put a word to it. The blade itself was mostly a purplish black except for the handle which was a dull cyan. "Keyblade." She said mostly to herself and for some reason that word sounded almost familiar, but the weapon itself gave no such thought that she had wielded it before. After a few seconds she recognized an opportunity had presented itself, the heartless in question seemed to be almost mesmerized by her new tool and gave her a chance to strike as she landed a kick on its chest before following up with a slash from her Keyblade managing to do some decent damage if its pained howl was anything to go by.

After that The Invisible seemed to have recovered from its trance and the two were now in a duel with the heartless relying on its brute strength while Larxene used her superior speed and agility knowing she didn't have the physical power to engage in a straight clash. Thankfully her new blade seemed to have evened the odds as it gave her better reach and more importantly attacks that could actually affect it far better than her magic did. The end of the short battle would come when with the grace of a ballerina she hopped over a horizontal slash and used the opening provided to bring her weapon down slicing the heartless vertically in half before it dissipated into darkness. "What the heck was that?!"

She heard Demyx shout shocked by what he had just witnessed as he rose up seemingly unharmed and Larxene although she couldn't prove it had the suspicion, he had faked just how badly he had been hit. Yet that thought did little to ruin her mood as after that victory she felt great or as much as a nobody could before the adrenaline that gave her strength began to wind down allowing the more logical part of her mind to come back and she then looked down at the weapon she had been holding. Bringing it back up to her face her gaze tried to decipher just how exactly she had summoned this strange power, but before she could even get an answer it disappeared on its own seeing no reason to stay now that its holder was safe and sound. "I-I don't know. Come on let's get back before anything else shows up." That seemed to get her companion moving as for once he proved speeder than her at getting out of the tunnel.

    Meanwhile

Not far off from Twilight Town the wise old man a former Keyblade Master now the Master of Sorcery Yen Sid opened his eyes as he had sensed a change. For a moment he had wondered if perhaps his senses were mistaken, but soon he realized they functioned perfectly fine as he stroked his beard in contemplation. "A new Keyblade Wielder has arisen after a decade without any activity... That can only mean either great creation or destruction may follow." Rising from his chair Yen Sid summoned his power and sent out a signal to his former apprentice to inform the mouse king he needed to see him immediately.

Back in The World That Never Was

As they RTC'd the two were immediately greeted by Saix who without even giving them a change to rest demanded a report while Xigbar, Axel, and Luxord were relaxing on the couches in The Grey Area. "Did you find the disturbance that emanated from Twilight Town?" His words only managing to annoy the girl as his tone conveyed a sense, he had expected them to fail in their mission. Ignoring his question Larxene walked past him feeling both exhausted and confused as she planned to simply go shower and maybe get some sleep.

At the same time Demyx began to haphazardly explain what had happened his voice carrying an edge of excitement and panic. "Yea we did only it was this huge gazillion foot tall heartless with a giant sword that was as strong as tank! Now I was giving it my all, but it managed to take me down with a cowardly surprise attack before moving onto Larxene. Then suddenly right as it was about to kill her, she summoned his giant sword thing out of nowhere and managed to take it out in an awesome duel if I say so myself!" That seemed to earn an eyebrow raise from Saix which was a sight to see for anyone considering the man seemed to only have one face and that was expressionless.

Even Axel gave out a snort at the description. "A sword really, last I checked the electric mouse of ours uses kniv-" He then ducked to avoid a thrown one for that nickname which embedded itself into the wall. "My point exactly."

But Demyx continued trying to convince them. "No, I'm telling you she summoned a giant sword, I think she even called it something... Oh now I remember she said it was a Keyblade."

That last word immediately made Xigbar's eye widen while Saix just looked to the retreating member in question and called out stopping the girl in her tracks. "Number 12 is this true?" At the same time Axel and Luxord just shrugged wondering why this new info seemed to be so important to the two senior members.

Surprised by this urgency Larxene chose to just answer. "Uh yea, at least that's what I think it's called." For a few seconds both senior members just looked at her until suddenly Xigbar aimed his arrowgun at the girl and fired not even giving her a chance to dodge, only by instinct did she manage to defend and just like before her Keyblade came forth guided to protect its chosen wielder deflecting the shot into the ceiling. "What was that for?!" She shouted wondering why she had just been attacked and more importantly what was so special about this she could have been killed just to test if she possessed this thing.

As for Xigbar he ignored her shout and just stood up now sporting a smirk as he made his way over to the girl admiring her blade. "Well well well look at what we have here. Do you have any idea what you hold in your hand sparky?" He paused for a moment enjoying the confusion on her face and everyone else aside from Saix before he continued. "This here is a special weapon one unlike any other, I've studied a bit myself so allow me to explain." The gleam in his eye unnerving her slightly. "It's said whoever holds the Keyblade is one destined for great things as unlike any other weapon it is one that can actively choose its master. Those who hold the Keyblade are granted abilities and responsibilities unlike any other as those who are chosen to wield one are meant to protect the Worlds from the heartless."

His words only adding to the confusion as now all eyes were on the girl who then dropped her weapon surprised by these revelations. "Well I don't want it if that's what it entails. I'll stick to my knives thank you very much." She said and took a step back before being stopped finding she had hit what felt like a brick wall.

Before she could turn to question what happened she felt a large hand land on her shoulder and instantly knew who it was. "Nonsense Number 12, this is not a curse but a gift for you and all of us." His deep voice would almost seem soothing if she didn't know who the man was. "You have been awarded something very special something that will allow us to achieve our true goal. Starting today you become the Key to our future my friend." The grip on her shoulder now becoming a bit tighter. "Come, we must inform everyone of this development, and more importantly decide what shall be changed for you now that you have such a marvelous weapon at your side." And without a way to protest Xemnas Number I of Organization XIII led her to her new destiny and thus began the tale of Larxene The Savage Key.

Kingdom hearts birth by sleep 0.2 a fragmentary passage uma aventura muito louca.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 04:05 PM PDT

A short but nice game. Its cool having the old combat system back, already forgot how it is to open cheats with triangle, it's kinda weird and floaty but I got used to it. Aqua returned in a more interesting story since now it's her story. It's interesting seeing the realm of darkness for more than a minute, it's crazy unpredictable and even somewat scary. It's interesting seeing the worlds from BBS again and bigger. It was nice seeing the castle of Dreams, the caves of the dwarf caves and Malificent's original castle, wich means Malificent never controlled the heartless well enought to get it back herself. The enemies were fun to fight, funny how they made an entire área just to destroy Darkside's. The demon time battle ar the end was kinda epic. Mickey helped fir half an hour, thats nice. The mirror puzzles were clever sometimes. I'm thrilled to finish things I'm this game and DDD to get to KH3.
