Kingdom Hearts (the entity not the game) is canonically keeping Smash alive: The smash logo burned out and it’s the light from the keyhole that reanimated all the characters. Mario literally used the last spark of smash to provide a new power source for all the characters.

Having recent rewatched the "Good Ending" of the Yozora fight, he says "I guess my powers aren't needed yet." To which Sora inquires, "What do you mean?". Yozora replies, "Never mind." Now besides being characteristically cryptic, what if there's more to this seemingly straightforward exchange?

Heartless are born from hearts that succumb to Darkness. Nobodies are born from the bodies left over when a heart falls to Darkness...

But what happens when the mind or soul leaves the heart or body or when it is ejected from the body or otherwise usurped?

We have been told by the unknown star from Quadratum that Yozora's heart (and body? I can't remember offhand) has been taken over by another And Yozora tells us himself that his form as he appears to Sora is not what he really looks like. And yet, he maintains his sense of self. His mind is apparently completely in tact.

So my theory is as follows: 1. The Mind is a central part of a Somebody in the same way that a Heart and Body and Will are. 2. When the Mind is separated from the body and/or overcome by negativity/darkness/someone else, the result is a new creature/enemy/character type: The Never Mind. 3. Yozora (as he appears to Sora) is himself, a Never Mind.

Crazy? Or just crazy enough?

Bonus Theory: Apprentice Xehanort was a Never Mind until he regained his mind from his experiments into hearts, memories, etc. When he regained his memories, his mind returned to him (and presumably his eyes turned from Brown to Yellow in the process) and then he proceeded to do the whole Ansem/Xemnas thing.
