[Meta] AMA Announcement: Xaddgx Absol Brasse! October 28th @ 4PM EST

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 10:12 AM PDT

Hey folks! The team's excited to announce our next (annual) AMA, and it's none other than the creator of the Vanitas Mod: Xaddgx!

For those of you unaware of his work, Xaddgx is a modder whom spent years documenting his progress on modding KH2FM+, where he created an entirely new take on the game with his Vanitas Mod. If you're thinking it's just some cheap color palette and clothes swap, well... it's beyond that...well beyond that.

With the addition of new Movesets, Abilities, Effects, even party members, Drive Forms and other goodies! All culminating in a very refreshing, balanced experience if you ever wanted a change of pace, and wanting to try something new.

He'll be here on October 28th at 4PM Eastern to take some questions about his experiences and tips to get into modding Kingdom Hearts or his Vanitas Mod.

Hope to see you guys there!

KH Final Mix - Ursula/Atlantica Is Terrible

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 08:51 PM PDT

Ursula and Atlantica are easily the worst points of this game. This swimming control crap is awful and clunky. I've heard some people use the argument "How is it bad? Circle is ascend, square is descend." We all obviously know what the damn controls are. The point is that they are clunky, slow, and unresponsive. I can't tell you how many times i've pressed the button ONE time and it assumes that I want to do the dolphin kick. I also can't tell you how many times this has gotten me killed on this sorry excuse for a boss fight they call Ursula. The Ursula fights and Atlantica are not fun, and thats because we have most of are abilities disabled here. I can't use my dodge roll, I cant use my high jump. This swimming combat is not fun or unique, it's an infuriating chore. Now, about the giant Ursula fight, what the hell were they thinking? Wtf is this constant barrage of thunder giving you no room to attack, use spells, or use potions? And why does the thunder keep striking downed party members, leaving a gigantic obstacle that you can't even get near? Party members go down like flies on this fight in Proud mode, and its so annoying. I know all about Ursula's moves, range, and dialogue queues, but its this god damn thunder stopping me from doing what I want to do. Fuck Atlantica, fuck Ursula. Rant over.

How did you discover Kingdom Hearts and what impact did it make on you?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 07:00 PM PDT

I was about 6 or 7 and I was downstairs at my grandma's house, which is where the television was. I remember building with some blocks with my little sister while some commercials were playing. When I glanced at the TV I saw the Squaresoft (RIP) logo pop on screen. The slow version of Simple and Clean started playing while clips of KH1 were shown while a narrator said "A journey where you never know who you'll run into next." I was hooked immediately. I had never seen anything like it. I'm a lifelong Disney fan as well as a lifelong fan of anything Japanese. It all amazed me in an instant. The Disney, the Final Fantasy, the sort of gothic, yet cartoony aesthetic and THE KEYBLADE. Been absolutely obsessed ever since. What was your first experience with KH and how did it impact you?

    KH3 Critical Mode

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 06:07 PM PDT

Where is the best spot to Lvl Grind? In KH2 I found that before the big Nobody boss(with Roxas) in the rainbow stairs was the best place to Lvl Grind. But in KH3 cant find a good spot to do. Or am I missing something?

Theory: Lauriam/Marluxia is the Master of Masters

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 08:50 PM PDT

This theory is a shower thought and has pretty much no concrete support, but it's Kingdom Hearts so it's as good as any.

So I was thinking about this moment from Chain of Memories. "You must eliminate the traitor." He's talking about Vexen, but something about his expression feels like he's said it before. Notice how he seems to get a little mad and slowly blinks; his vision might even be drifting from the crystal orb a bit.

We all know that there's a "traitor" among the Master's apprentices, but we don't quite know who yet. However, there was a very explicit traitorous act that was done that we don't know everything about yet, and it does involve Lauriam. His sister, Strelitzia, one of the Dandelions who was picked by the Master himself, was killed. This, as Luxu put it, completely foils the Master's plans. (Observations, Excerpt 1)

Why would the Master make plans that would contradict the Book of Prophecies though? Well, think about how it exists. The Master's eye is in No Name, his Keyblade. He bequeathed No Name to Luxu, who would pass it on through his apprentices. Luxu isn't involved with the events of Union Cross (as far as we know), so how could the Master know about the specifics of the Dandelions? Perhaps he doesn't. Maybe he did not know Strelitzia would get killed. Maybe this is something that would upset him; whether it be his plans being thwarted, the murder of the Dandelion he personally chose, or both. Could he possibly have some...personal attachment to the murder victim though?

What if the Master, wanting to keep a close EYE on things, took her place? He would have to join the Dandelions without Ava's approval (not that he needs it), but without a Keyblade of any sort, since that belongs to Luxu now. Hmm, what other blue-eyed character happened to unexpectedly join the Dandelions without a Keyblade? That's right: Lauriam. He wants to know who killed his sister, and he wants to personally see how his plan will go with this drawback.

This would also mean that all of the other four Dandelions were personally picked by The Master of Masters. This doesn't rule out that any one of them could have killed Strelitzia, and if one of them did and everyone found out about it, I think they would all be in a bit of a quarrel. Imagine the Master's disappointment and sorrow, that one of his personal picks to rebuild the World killed his beloved sister and ruined almost everything. Feeling deep regret and sorrow, the Master doesn't look away at one of the computer screens. He simply mutters: "You must eliminate the traitor."

tl;dr - MoM dun goofed. Now he's MoMluxia.

extra thingie~ Do you think Xemnas would appoint Marluxia to Castle Oblivion because he senses something important within him? He seems to know there's an "ancient keyblade legacy" that he's associated with, and Marluxia sure reacts to it differently than the other three. Just a thought.

How long has passed between Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 04:18 PM PDT

I've just very recently got into the series, I started with KH1, then did Chain of Memories, then 358/2 Days, just started KH2 (Still playing as Roxas, Ansem just revealed himself to DiZ). How much time has passed between 1&2? In 1 I would have thought the mains were 10-12, with maybe Riku being a bit older. Initially I thought the 358 days, but both Kairi and Riku look like more than a year has passed.
