Aqua was kinda dumb to not let Ven go with her after Radiant Garden

He's obviously not just gonna go home, and she should know this since they've had that conversation multiple times by this point. If she really wants Ven to be out of harms way then she should let him come with her instead of letting him go off on his own.

    A Well-Made KH PvP Game?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:56 PM PST

Imagine the fighting mechanics that has been built upon the KH series, with an added balancing system optimized for PvP combat online. I have been a fan of games with simple mechanics yet a deep skill gap such as Smash Bros, and Towerfall. It'd be awesome to see a game like this come to life.

I understand this idea was explored in Union and BBS, but Union is 2d, and the BBS sounded like an amazing idea, however I never got the chance to experience it due to lack of PSP owners.

Any of yall think this would be a worthwhile idea?

Is there a definitively best/optimal choice to make at the beginning of each of the main KH games?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:41 PM PST

So at the beginning of KH1, 2, and 3, there are choices you have to make that dictate certain stat upgrades and abilities you get throughout the game.

In KH1, you pick between the Dream Sword, Dream Rod, and Dream Shield, which represent the "path of the Warrior, path of the Mystic, and path of the Guardian" respectively. These cause you to prioritize either strength, MP, or defense throughout the game. After you choose one of these, you have to choose one to give up.

In KH2, you pick between the Struggle Bat, Struggle Wand, and Struggle Sword, which give you a +1 in either strength, MP, or defense. Later, you once again choose between the Dream Sword/Rod/Shield, which puts you on the path of the Warrior/Mystic/Guardian, similarly to KH1, except you don't have to give one of them up.

In KH3, you pick between Vitality, Wisdom, and Balance. Vitality gives you more HP and less MP, Wisdom gives you more MP and less HP, and Balance gives you a fairly even amount of HP and MP. You then choose between the path of the Warrior/Mystic/Guardian, just like the first two games.

What I want to know is: is there a choice to make in each of these games that is definitively the best choice possible? Like, I've heard that in KH1, it's hands-down the best choice to pick the Shield and give up the Sword because that gives you the maximum amount of AP and item slots. Is this the best choice? I've also heard that in Proud Mode the best choice is to pick the Shield and give up the Staff, so does it depend on what difficulty you're playing on? And I really haven't heard a solid answer for what the best choices in 2 and 3 are.

Also: Is it best to use Keyblades that have more strength or MP? And is it better to keep Donald or Goofy in your party when in a world with its own guest party member?

Idea that might be deleted later

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:36 PM PST

I don't know if it's just me but can anyone else imagine a series of Kingdom Hearts, be it comic, art, or anything of the likes, that imagines the rule of the "World Order" (a rule that states that worlds are not allowed to know that there are other worlds) not existing, where every world knows of each other's existence and interact with each other. I apologize if this violates any rules or regulations but I wanted to mention this post, I will take the fall for violations, have a good day/evening/night.

Some rambles/thoughts about Melody of Memory's gameplay...

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:26 PM PST

    1. Am I the only one who finds it kind of annoying that the songs sometimes alternate between making you play the rhythm section and making you play the lead melody? A good example of what I'm talking about is "Byte Bashing": that song starts out with you playing to the rhythm section instead of the lead melody, then it switches to the lead melody later on. ("Traverse Town" is another good example; during the second loop of the song, it randomly switches to the rhythm section, then goes back to the lead melody.) I know it's a rhythm game, but it's also called Melody of Memory. I'd like to play to the lead melody, not the rhythm section. Imagine if, in a Guitar Hero game, they randomly switch between instruments and you suddenly have to play the drums or the bass parts. (Then again, there is a game like that called Amplitude, but in that game, they at least let you know when the switch is coming.) I know they probably made it like that to throw you off and make the song harder, but there are plenty of songs in this game that have complicated melodies and would be hard enough on their own. Which actually brings me to my next point:
    2. I feel like some of the songs in this game should be harder. Like, if they were charting the lead melody note-for-note, songs like "Pirate's Gigue" or "Old Friends, Old Rivals" would be much harder than they are. (Consequently, songs like "Dark Domination" and "Rage Awakened" would be much easier. Especially the latter, which has you play the rhythm section at the beginning, which is really hard.) Some songs like "What Lies Beneath" and "Sinister Shadows" do a really good job of this, but then there are songs like "Hollow Bastion" and "Lord Of The Castle" that seem to kind of make up their own beats and follow them instead. (To be fair, Performer mode does help in this regard, but not a whole lot.)
    3. The way the songs are charted, you can't really get into the groove of the songs and you constantly have to be on guard for any switch-ups. That kind of makes the songs less fun to play, but that's just me. Some songs like "Destiny Islands" and "An Adventure In Atlantica" just randomly throw a bunch of notes/heartless at you out of nowhere, totally throwing you off. (In the case of the former, I feel like they did that at the end just to be a dick.)
    4. This isn't really a point, but to give you a good idea of the kind of thing I'm comparing this game to, check out this clip of "September" from Elite Beat Agents. I'm not just holding this game to Kingdom Hearts standards, I'm also holding it to the standards of other rhythm games I've played. (In both regards, the game ranks pretty low, but, again, that's just me.)
    5. I feel like the only songs in the game that really fit with the whole rhythm game genre are "CALLING -KINGDOM MIX-" and the Utada songs. To me, those are the only songs that actually belong in a rhythm game. ("Access The Grid" and "Digital Domination" aren't bad though. That's probably because they were loosely inspired by Daft Punk.)
    6. It's a shame that there are no items that help improve accuracy with hitting notes. The closest thing to that is Mickey, but he doesn't help too much. It also would've been cool if leveling up helped in that regard; like, the more you level up, the more your accuracy improves.

Melody of Memory is a cute little game, but it has a lot of flaws, even outside of the ones I mentioned here. We live in an age where games are constantly being patched and updated, so it's a real shame this game won't be getting that same treatment. It could really use it.

Also, this game isn't worth $60. Not even close.

    TL;DR - MoM needs work.
