    Do you like the Disney Keyblades?

    So maybe I am just a cynical prude, but I have always hated most -- not all -- of the Disney themed Keyblades throughout the entire series. While there are a few good ones out there, like Decisive Pumpkin (in design and ability) and Wishing Lamp from 2, and Skull Noise in DDD, most of the others range from genuinely bad and ugly (imo) like most of the ones in KH1, Fairy Stars in BBS (which physically hurts me to look at), to average at best which is everything else. By themselves, it would be fine I guess. But then they have to stand up next to absolutely amazing looking original Keyblade designs like the entire Ultima line, Way to the Dawn, and Divewing (which might be more favorite in the whole series).

    Generally speaking, I think this got worse over time too. In KH1, they were just kind of ugly but they at least were not overdesigned. 2 was an improvement, where none of them are genuinely bad (even Hidden Dragon looks alright). BBS and 3 have it the worst, with most keyblades feeling very overdesigned. 3 suffers more from a lack of variety than anything, actually, having a small number of original keyblades (just 3 before Re;Mind, 5 after) compared to 12 in KH2 and 8 in KH (if you count Kingdom Key). I'm defining original as not being inherently tied to a specific world and its theme. I am including FF-inspired Keyblades because those tend to look good and highly unique.

    Meanwhile, Days has some of the coolest designs in the entire series and they are all just 2d images. And again, original stuff like Flame Liberator and Destiny's Embrace are gorgeous to look at it. I feel like the art team in charge of KH has some really creative and talented people, but they are constantly held back by either the Mouse or by Nomura insisting that Sora's only cool weapon can be the Ultima Weapon.

    I really hope that with whatever KH4 brings, we can either toss out or highly revise the way Keyblades are designed.
