Why did the KH forums die? Posted: 14 Jan 2020 10:32 PM PST Okay, I know that is an incredibly dramatic way to put it but it's been eating at me for years. What. HAPPENED??? The forums used to be THE place to go to interact with tons of KH fans and interact with the community. People talking all hours, the pages exploding when new news dropped. Then over the years theres barely anything anymore. And I know I sound like a 'old man yells at cloud' in this sentiment but...what happened? I used to think maybe the fan base just really shrunk, but not really, I can find lots of fans on Twitter, and reddit and amino and youtube and the art community is super alive still. Then I thought maybe it's the fact that the main theorizing hayday is just over, and while it's not as strong as back in the day it's still far from dead. People be theorizing all over the place! It just all feels so fractured now. And I've even spoke to a few people when it comes up on Twitter and people miss it too and it breaks my heart a little to see those hubs not be the place anymore. Everyones on so many different places it's hard to have those moments with the community like there used to be with thousands of people on a forum thread all talking and quoting and theorizing. And if you left you could easily find that thread again because it was all chronological on the forum. It wasnt like ranked by engagement so your thing just disappeared if it was engaged with enough in time. Sigh...it makes me sad. And I know things have to change, and new tech and community spaces come along but i just dont think they're better at what theyre trying to do than the forum format was. submitted by /u/TheCuriositas [link] [comments]
