In the Calm Depths in Atlantica, there is a sea urchin in the room with the geyser that shoots you upward. Using magic on it causes the sea urchin to explode and creates a shortcut back to that room! I've played this game more times than I can count, and I'm still learning new things about it.

Why is Scala ad Caelum abandoned?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 06:14 PM PDT

If Xehanort meant those cities that we see on the horizon, why did they end up empty? What made keyblade wielders leave them? Didn't Xehanort say that Scala ad Caelum is almost the home of all keyblade users? Then why is even the city where Eraqus lives with his friends also half empty? What is your opinion on this?

Played and finished every single Kingdom Hearts game in a little over a month, i reviewed every single game as a new player, took a lot of work guys, hope you like it

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:15 AM PDT

Hi everyone, i'm relatively new to the Kingdom Hearts series, I bought the All-In-One package and spent all of may, until June 15 playing every single game and watching all the movies, my reviews really pick up after KH2, thats when i decided to note down everything, here are my reviews as a new player:

    Kingdom Hearts 1.5:

25 hours to beat, Final Mix difficulty

Since this is the first game, i can't complain too much. Some worlds were mediocre or even terrible (looking at you Monstro), and the story got cheesy at times, but overall, the game has some responsive combat, relatively engaging story and i commend the difficulty of this game, some bosses genuinely felt like a huge challenge, the game has aged though, also the camera sucks so bad, doesn't anyone else feel like it is way wayy to zoomed in?

7/10 - Engaging story but cheesy at times, challenging bosses make the game rewarding

    Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories:

(5 hours, did not beat, Normal difficulty)

This game was such a chore, i never enjoyed it at any point, going off reviews and tips and reading through reddit, you basically have to cheese the bosses to win, the combat really holds you back, it sucked so bad. Also i've had multiple instances where i needed a specific card to get through a door and i spent 30+ minutes looking for it. It's sad because the story is amazing, i had to finish the movie on Youtube.

realistically if i'm giving this a rating it was a 3/10 for me, points only for engaging story

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Kingdom Hearts 2.5:

32 hours to beat, Normal difficulty

Amazing game, this is the only game i find myself coming back to play after i finish. This is the only game that really forces you be strategic in combat, therefore giving you the desire to actually learn and improve your skills in the combat in this game, take notes EA, THIS is a sense of pride and accomplishment, beating those data fights 1 by 1 after learning the combat. story was long but at least engaging, bosses were done amazingly and Roxas is one of the major high points in this game, i appreciate that this game really tries to take itself more serious than KH1, drive forms are probably among the best features in the series, the game was generous with the extra content "disney castle, atlantica, terra, cavern of remembrance, 100 acre, tourney". High points in this game were really high, like amazingly high: Roxas, Christmas Town, Hollow Bastion, Terra, Twilight Town, Axel, Final Boss, Magic System, Camera, Data fights, Sepiroth

Now for the bad, i'm sorry but the worlds just dragged at times, having to do everything a second time was really annoying, even if there was new story content the second time, some nobody's were badly designed, i know the game is challenging but those berserker nobody's are broken. The story could have been reduced quite a bit, i might get hate for this but fuck the tron world.

9/10 - amazing game, polished gameplay, amazing and responsive combat, great worlds for the most part, engaging story,

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Birth By Sleep:

25 hours to beat, Normal difficulty

Xehanort is an amazing villain, intimidating as hell, old wise man who is in a position of power suddenly wants to harm his young students, scary stuff.

The three character story was done relatively well, even though you have to go through every world 3 times, which is something i would usually despise, every story feels like a legit fresh game, Command deck system was done IMMENSELY well, this is what C.O.M should have been, this system gives a certain amount of freedom, choose your attacks and use to your hearts content, you never feel like you don't have an attack because something is always charging, unlike C.O.M where you could literally use every attacks and be left with nothing but a finger up your ass. Grinding is not that intense in this game, you can level up your cards relatively quickly which makes progress exponential when you start getting stronger cards. The bosses in this game were really challenging in a good way

Endgame was epic, Vanitas reveal was very surprising, X-Blade was cool, the final battle on the "dive in the heart" was epic.

Terra losing his body , Aqua falling to darkness and Ventus going into comatose were actually the high-point of the game, i love when games are brave enough to take risks and actually admit that the protagonists are not invincible

On the negatives, dialogue was so flat, but at least it wasn't cringe, the story was a little overdramatic and downright dumb at times, Eraqus first thought was kill Vanitas, instead of protecting him from Xehanort? Ventus telling the others to destroy him so he doesn't have to fight Vanitas? Terra being overly gullible everywhere he goes? Xehanort is in the exam room and 10 minutes later we're tasked with "finding him", why? he was just here?

8/10 - great game, amazing story but it isn't polished as the mainline games

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dream Drop Distance:

17 hours to beat, beginner mode.

Well.. I feel like the story in this game was somewhat.. pointless..

Like the whole entire game literally felt like filler, it was not engaging at all i literally forgot what i was doing at times.

But this game does shine in some aspects, the bosses were extremely cool (FUCK the Spellican though), Traverse Town was really made well for this game, the flowmotion was neat, and surprisingly the drop system was kind of cool, usually i'd hate going through worlds twice like this game wants you to, but i find it more engaging that i was able to do Sora and Riku's world simultaneously (do 75% of sora's world, then 75% of riku's world, finish sora's then finish riku's) much better than doing every world from scratch a second time, here you can just do it once and leave and never have to go back. World design was amazing and the music is among the best in the series.

    Now for the bad..

Look, this game added a lot of features, which is welcome, but honestly it was a little too much, i probably used a quarter of what i was able to, i did not understand dream eaters or any of their features and never really used them, Also, command deck took a major step back, i felt completely WEAK in this game. The enemies in this game were so damn lame, it was like overweight cats and other and other various wildlife dream eater things. Again.. FUCK the Tron world. Also, The World that Never Was honestly dragged on so long

And topping it off, after grinding through this game for nearly 20 hours, i did not understand a single thing that was going on throughout that endgame, i did not feel any sense of relief/excitement/closure on anything, i finished the game and literally just said "finally.."

6/10 - AMAZING intro, great worlds, good features/combat mechanics, great bosses but really bad story, dragged out and confusing endgame and mediocre combat,

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Kingdom Hearts 3:

40 Hours, Proud Mode (took that long because i looked for all treasure/emblems)

This game really makes you feel powerful, they gave a good amount of mechanics without overloading you, disney rides were great (but some like the pirate ship, ferris wheel were just downright awkward) I was in love with the camera in this game, perfectly positioned for the combat and gave the game great depth, great addition of having 4 party members, worlds are spacious and beautiful and aren't riddled with loading screens between areas which is surprising because the game has great draw distance, the game brings back great mechanics like flowmotion, shotlock, dream eaters and doesn't force you to use them or overburden you with unnecessary features (looking at you DDD) so they're welcome additions. Boss battles were well crafted and eventful, changing keyblades/keyblade transformations is one of the high points of the game, gummi ship was never a favourite of mine but at least here it is a little more engaging, and even at that you can just ignore it if you want, Keyblade upgrades were great but left me wanting more (the upgrades were very small and no physical changes) but it was great that i got to main the Kingdom Key where most games rendered it obsolete after the first world. Standout worlds really stood out (Toybox, Carribean, Tangled, San Fransokyo), endgame REALLY picked up with Aqua, Ventus getting saved, fighting Vanitas, seeing all the organization members pop up one by one in the keyblade graveyard with Xehanort and standing off with them, endgame was a good length and the last world/scala ad caelum was a surprise to me didn't expect that.

The ending was kind of satisfying and honestly i appreciated the twist of sora not making it out.

Now for the bad.. and oh boy..

Overall, the journey really left me wanting more, it was so annoying that all the bosses

The cutscenes were just.. idk man weird? i couldn't put my finger on it but i realized what it was, it didn't feel like the characters were interacting with each other when reading lines, they just felt like they were reading lines one after another, there was no chemistry, and it was weird because that only goes for sora/donald/goofy, every other character interacted fine with each other

It was EXTREMELY annoying that i could not fight any organization members until endgame, it was really annoying to have a long tense cutscene going back and forth with an organization member, then they just call some heartless and run away, wtf? they did it with vanitas, replica riku, larxene, there was no "kingdom hearts immersion" in the story leading up to the endgame, it was just disney immersion, which is fine, but it was only disney immersion, so the first 80% of the game feels like "kingdom disney", there was no buildup, they should've thrown at least 5-6 organization fights to keep the tension and buildup, there was no buildup in this game, sure the buildup is knowing the big fight is coming at the end, but there's no feeling of urgency or "it's coming soon" which sadly makes the most of the game feel pointless? And this bites the game in the ass later cause when they jam pack all the bosses together it just makes it feel like everything was thrown together without care and overall anticlimactic and overdone.

Also, how many times are people going to die and come back to life miraculously.. and time travel? really? the demon tide taking everyone out in the end was SO epic my jaw literally dropped, but dear god but they could've found a better way to handle the aftermath, if they were gonna kill everyone off and bring them right back, there was no point of doing it.

The final boss was good for what it was but it was kind of weird when Xehanort had that goat armor on or something? i would've preferred a 1-on-1 showdown in regular forms no side characters, would've made for a more dire final boss, but can't complain about what we got. The ending was honestly pretty satisfying and sure it sequel baits but it looks like an interesting setup for future games

Small nitpicks: The intro kind of sucked (DDD was my favourite intro) Some worlds dragged (toybox, arendelle) Loading screens were just long, Demon Tides were fucking insufferable, cool enemy but very badly constructed boss battle and the health bar was too big, elimination of drive sucks, it would've been better to replace keyblade transformations with drive in my opinion. Also, i think the dude in charge of making twilight town left it to the last week and turned in like 30% of what was expected lol.. Also some of the disney bosses in this game were really uninspired, 0% effort put into 100 acre wood..

Honestly, i get what everyone says when they say "Easy", you do have to play on proud and this game kind of went form the 1-on-1 swordplay (keyblade) to kind of a horde clearing brawler gameplay which naturally makes all enemies easier to destroy

But honestly the game isn't easy for bad reasons, they just overloaded mechanics (Form changes, form attacks, links, flowmotion, shotlock, attraction)

8/10 - Amazing graphics, combat, worlds, great final boss, somewhat satisfying ending, shitty world bosses, pointless story until the end, awkward dialogue

So are Eraqus, Xehanort, Bragi, Hermod, Vor, Baldr, older students and master Odin the only students in Skala ad Caelum?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:09 PM PDT

Just looking at the whole world, it looks huge, besides, other cities on the horizon are visible, and Xehanort himself said that this is the city where Keyblade wielders live, does this mean that the characters shown in Dark Road are not the only ones?

Digital and Real Twilight Town confusion

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 08:42 PM PDT

So I just started Kingdom Hearts 2 (currently in Hollow Bastion) and I was confused if Sora was in the digital or real twilight town when he woke up. I'm assuming he was in the digital one because that's where Roxas saw Sora at and the fact that the train Sora takes leaves in a magic fashion (traveling between dimensions I'm assuming). I've only played Kingdom Hearts and CoM (the common consensus was to play KH2 then watch 358/2 Days). If this is explained in 358/2 Days then you guys can yell at me for being impatient lol.

[PREDICTION] What I really want to see in the next KH installments

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 08:37 PM PDT

Depending on the player, KH3 was either an amazing experience or one that was missing quite a bit. Personally, I wish Roxas' role was far greater than what Tetsuya Nomura advertised lol. While I appreciated the specific moments like when Sora was determined to bring Roxas and the moment Sora felt his connection to Roxas when talking about what it means to be a brother with Hiro, his return felt extremely underwhelming with all that build up on how much Sora wanted for Roxas to be his own person. It was especially frustrating since Nomura would claim Roxas was a "top secret" in the KH3 storyline.

This leads into what I would hope becomes a part of the future KH installments. We know so far that Kairi, Riku, and the girl from the The Final World who has a connection to Yozora are the three whose dreams will hold a clue to finding Sora. Based on this, I am hoping that Roxas, Xion, and Lea are given crucial roles in this task to use their dreams to help find Sora. I say this because it would be similar to how Riku needed to use Sora's dreams to find him the first time, but the difference is that Riku's dreams will be used to help Sora out.

While it could be possible that Riku and Kairi are capable of being aware in their dreams under the guidance of Fairy Godmother to help find Sora, we don't know much about the third person's capabilities. For that reason, I believe once Roxas and Xion wake up since Namine will likely be notified about what needs to be done via dreams instead of searching through their memories, they will be summoned along with Lea to each dive into the dreams of the 3 to assist them in finding clues on Sora's whereabouts. Roxas will help Kairi, Xion will help Riku, and Lea will help the girl. Roxas will help Kairi since besides her and Riku, he shares the strongest connection to Sora and together him and Kairi may very well have the best chance at finding the key to bring him back.

Thats how I hope Roxas will continue to have a pivotal role in the future of Kingdom Hearts. It wouldn't make sense for Nomura to hype him up and then toss him away as a side character with little involvement in the future. KH3 was rushed for sure, and its for that reason I believe Roxas wasn't as focused upon as he could've been. And about the Wayfinder Trio, it would be much more difficult for them to be the ones to help Kairi and Riku at the moment since they're in the Realm of Darkness rn. That means the only person capable of finding them is Mickey, and even then it will take a bit to find them immediately as we saw with Riku and Mickey trying to find Aqua.

LoL TLDR (Summary): I think Roxas will possibly have a larger role in future KH Installments since Nomura keeps hyping him up and KH3 was rushed so thats why Roxas failed to be as relevant as Nomura claimed he'd be.
