Happy to see KH: MoM is going to explore Donald's memories of lesser-known Disney films!

It's like people don't remember that we used to go years without any new content. Now we're getting Re:Mind, Dark Road, and MoM, all in one year, with even more coming soon.

Kingdom Hearts:MoM is an acronym made to remind us that Sora has a mom and has no clue where tf hes been for years

I love the story telling in Kingdom Hearts, and I actually like having story stuff in the "spin offs"

    Posted: 18 Jun 2020 08:35 PM PDT

As someone who has gotten in to Kingdom Hearts over the past couple of months, I'm pretty excited for Melody of Memory. However, it seems not everyone is excited because it's a "spinoff" game with story content or because it's not KH4. I'm pretty surprised that people even within the community now seem to have this mindset considering this is how Kingdom Hearts has been told for the past 15 years. I actually really like the way Kingdom Hearts tells its story probably because of the way Disney has handled Star Wars recently.

As someone who has been a life long Star Wars fan it is really annoying when the stories you enjoy basically doesn't matter. I remember in 2015 before The Force Awakens released, it was said that everything that from that point on was canon so I was scrambling to get everything Star Wars related to learn about the new canon. Then The Force Awakens comes out and has basically nothing from non movie content and it set up a bunch of mysteries that would be discard in the next movie and have unsatisfying answers in the movie after. It's been 5 years since and it has become difficult to love Star Wars the way I used to. Being a Star Wars fan became less fun because why speculate or make theories when everything is going to be canon or not is just going to be tossed out by the next writer. The tv shows are pretty good but the movies and books that used to be the heart and soul of the franchise have lost all their luster.

Now over the Quarantine I have played every Kingdom Hearts games in the collections (everything excluding 358/2 and recoded) and I adore the series. A major part of my enjoyment is that everything is important and that there is something worth my time in each game. Even if Sora isn't in it I'm learning something about the universe and the characters within the series. Even if doesn't fully make sense right now I know that there is going to be a payoff in the future. Each new installment is answering questions you had, answering questions you didn't know you had, or setting up for future installments. In a way it reminds me of the MCU and what I like about those films.

I really don't understand why some people don't care about Kingdom Hearts unless it's a numbered game. Each non numbered game has proven that there is no such thing as a Kingdom Hearts spinoff. I find myself extremely excited for Melody of Memory and can't wait to see what the game and future games have in store. All in all, I love the series and I'm in for this wild ride all the way

I was really hesitant about the card system, and I almost just quit to watch video of it. This is my first time going through playing all the games since I was a kid(I'm 28 now). I have only played 1-3. None of the extras. They just came to game pass to I'm playing through all now. Once you get to the 3-4th world, it picks up a lot. I'm even enjoying the grind. I know the story is about to pick up as well. I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying it lol 🙂 it's worth giving a shot for sure

Edit: it's actually re:CoM. My bad haha

I slept on Re:Coded for all the wrong reasons

    Posted: 18 Jun 2020 09:47 PM PDT

I know this isn't a revolutionary statement, but of the DS duo Re:Coded is easily the better of the two gameplay wise. In fact I would go as far as to say that in that aspect alone it's the best in the series behind the main 3 games.

Im playing it for the first time and I expected to bounce off it hard. Earlier this year I tried playing 358/2 Days and I got five hours in and had to stop. So I expected Re:Coded to have the same effect. Could not have been more wrong. I'm at around the same amount of time I spent playing Days and I'm hungry for more.

And I never would have gotten to experience this had I continued to listen to all the naysayers and critics here on reddit or YouTube. Lately I've been seeing a lot of people shooting down Melody of Memory because it's a rythmn game or because it's using the KH1 model for Sora. And while those aspects are concerning, we don't really know anything about this game yet. I encourage every one to stay open minded in the months to come and allow yourself to form your own opinion when the game actually comes out rather than blindly parroting the opinion of your favorite YouTube reviewer or whatever statement gets you the most karma on reddit. I did that back in 2010 and I regret it because that was a decade where I could have been playing this fun little DS game that everyone wrote off.

Theory on where Sora went at the end of KH3

    Posted: 18 Jun 2020 10:25 PM PDT

Okay, so I've honestly thought about the secret ending for nearly every single day since KH3 originally came out and I have just now come to a conclusion as to where Sora, Yozora, Riku, and MoM are at in the secret ending. I will be very surprised if this theory turns out to be entirely false (at least some parts of it should be true or I will be very shocked) because I just cannot think of any logical, "Nomura-esque" way as to how the next saga will fit together into the currently established plot. But anyway, here it goes:

Sora, Yozora, Riku, and the MoM are in the worldline where darkness prevailed and light expired. That is why that specific line of the book of prophecies is so heavily emphasized by Back Cover.

But yes, they are in the worldline where the guardians of light failed. In that worldline, it can be assumed that Xehanort went through with his plan and the purge took place. If that were the case, the implication would be that literally everything is destroyed and returned to darkness (hence the dark city of Shibuya with the normal-looking, non-kingdom hearts moon above it and the final world that has a starry night sky instead of a daytime sky). This purge may have also included Xehanort and his seekers of darkness as well since they, too, have light within them.

Now why would the Master of Masters be here? Well, if you haven't been able to tell so far, MoM really likes to make other people do his bidding. MoM had Xehanort experience his world tour so that he would realize the state of the world and go through with the purge so that the world would turn to a blank slate of darkness. From there, Xehanort would also probably be purged due to the light in his heart. The MoM could then recreate the world in his own image, which explains him making the heart shape over the moon. He plans to bring light back into the worldline where light had expired by creating his own kingdom hearts.

As to why he is doing this, I've got nothing, but the whole holding his hands in front of the moon thing definitely seems to imply that he plans to create a kingdom hearts in Shibuya. Potentially it could be him attempting to prevent further keyblade wars and that's why he needed to start fresh with a new kingdom hearts in a new worldline but the point is, MoM used Xehanort for his ability to create a purge and then once MoM saw that the purge had taken place by using his gazing eye, MoM cleverly snuck off to the new worldline where light had expired and where he could start the world anew.

Now obviously we don't have enough information to explain Yozora's role in all of this but obviously Riku (in his dreams) is there to look for Sora.

But yeah, that's my theory and it's currently almost canon to me, just think we need to see what Dark Road and Melody of Memories have to say and see if they line up with this theory. Anyway, everything below this in the theory is very speculative and lacks evidence compared to the prior portions of the theory but feel free to continue reading for some more...

    —————————

For a little added bonus which is definitely a bit of a stretch now, the master's box contains a portal to the new worldline which is why the foretellers have gathered in the keyblade graveyard, so that they may travel to the worldline where the keyblade wars are no longer once the master has successfully finished creating the new worldline's kingdom hearts. Potentially Ava is already in the new worldline and that's why Xigbar/Luxu says she's not there because she had her own role and she "carried it out."

Now the only reason I can see the Master of Masters creating a new world in another worldline as an issue to the guardians of light is because maybe the creation of a new worldline will cause the one where light prevailed to expire and be replaced by MoM's worldline? That would make sense and give reason to the "new game" of chess between Eraqus and Xehanort where it appears to be Sora versus the foretellers. Sora would literally be fighting to save his worldline if this were the scenario. I think this makes the most sense as to why the MoM is a threat. He constantly puts up this facade of being the kind of person who is very neutral. He would very likely be the kind of person who would see the following as a good idea: letting one worldline that has already been doomed to recurring keyblade wars fade in order to allow a new one to prosper in peace. This especially reminds me of his line when speaking with Xehanort in Remind when he says "I could tell you that I dream of world peace, when I'm actually waiting for its destruction." It just lines up perfectly with the whole "destroying a failed worldline in order to create a successful worldline" thing that might be going on.

Also, another bonus of this theory is that it still leaves the MoM's identity hidden leaving open the option of him being an entirely new character rather than something silly like the other theories that say he's Demyx or an alternate version of Sora. I would really prefer if he was a new character and not one we have already seen, and I think most people agree with me on that.

Anyway, let me know what you think! If you have any criticisms or you can think of how Yozora might fit better into this idea, let me know.

    Thanks!
