    after about twelve years of lots of frustration, laughter, and tears, i have finally reached the end of the beloved kingdom hearts 1. this was all thanks to my girlfriend bc i could not find the strength to defeat the last few boss battles. i am very happy to have seen the end of this game. truly beautiful and magical. i loved this so much

    Nobodies aren't what you think they are: An extremely pedantic analysis

    Background:

    Here's what we know about the heartless and nobodies. The heartless are formed when a heart is removed from a person and it has nowhere to go. In this situation, the darkness in that heart consumes it and the heart transforms into a heartless. If the person has a particularly strong will, the body left behind becomes a nobody.

    What happens if the person doesn't have a very strong will? Now we have to start extrapolating. Well, they don't just die because there's nothing actually wrong with the body. The heart that's removed isn't their physical literal heart organ. It's more like their spirit. Instead, what happens is what we see happen to Kairi and Ventus; they essentially go comatose.

    Implications:

    So, with that in mind, Kairi shouldn't have a nobody. Her body never goes anywhere. By the end of the first game, she's back in her original body. This is unlike Sora, who should have a nobody, because the body he's in at the end of the first game is a new body given to him through Kairi's princess of heart powers. His body disappears off to wherever bodies are teleported to when someone becomes a heartless.

    Side note: Under this reasoning, Kairi's heart didn't turn into a heartless, because even though it was removed from her body, it did have somewhere to go. The bodies only disappear if the heart is transformed into a heartless in the moment when it's removed from the body or if the body becomes a nobody. Even if the heart is transformed into a nobody in that moment, if another heart occupies the body, it won't disappear. This is what we see happen when Terra's body is taken by Xehanort (though you could also interpret the story such that Terra's heart goes into his armor and he doesn't become a heartless until he's defeated in that form by Sora).

    On the otherhand, Xemnas actually shouldn't be Xehanort's heartless, but actually Terra's. Though Xehanort's heart is in Terra's body. The heartless created when this occurred should actually look like Xehanort, and not Terra, because it's created from Xehanort's heart.

    Solutions:

    You could argue that the form a heartless and nobody takes is more indicative of how that heart/body perceives itself, but while that explanation works for nobodies (since they don't look like the original person and no one's mental image is completely correct), it doesn't work for heartless since they always look exactly like the body they come from. This could be explained if they just always take the form of the body they were just in if they're powerful enough to look like a normal human instead of a crazy monster creature.

    Now, let's say we go with the logic that nobodies are not actually created by what's left behind when someone becomes a heartless, but rather, they're created from each of the hearts inside of a body when at least one of those hearts becomes a heartless so long as those hearts have a strong enough will to create a nobody. This, while it contradicts what we're told in KH2, fits what we actually see occur. However, from what we learn from the events of BBS, that would also mean that Ventus should have a nobody, unless he doesn't have a strong enough will. If we go with this logic, then that could explain why Xemnas is actually Xehanort's nobody rather than Terra's; he;s created from Xehanort's heart and not Terra's body.

    Conclusions:

    Nobodies are a sort of mirror of heart they come from. They're false reflections created when someone with a very strong will becomes a heartless (perhaps as a result of them trying to resist the process). Nobodies take the form of how that heart viewed themself while powerful heartless created from people with especially strong wills (more so than is required to create a nobody or else Sora would've retained his form) retain the form of the body they were last in.

    Let me know if there's any other fantasy system you'd like me to extremely over analyze.

    Got my last full chain on Melody of Memory today! I feel so proud that I've full chained every song on each difficulty, but at the same time I wonder if it would even be possible to get all the All Excellent scores. Is anyone actually going for these?

    Are Kingdom hearts games fun to watch someone play?

    I am trying to spend more time with my sisters who know little to nothing about video games and playing games with them really isn't a good idea because I suck at teaching them how to play and tutorials don't help them for some reason. So I was wondering if these were fun to watch, I thought they would like this game franchise.
