Spent about a year playing through the series some thoughts/ranking

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 07:30 PM PDT

So i spent about a year or so on and off playing through the entire series. The only games i played before this were KH1/2 and 358/2 days. The only games i did not play were Re:coded and the mobile phone games, but watched the movies and not counting 0.2 as i felt like it was just a preview. Just thought i'd post some thoughts and rank the games. I also tried to avoid spoilers for the most part. TL:DR at the bottom

    KH1

This game still holds up an has one of my preferred battle systems of the series. Its a bit slower and stilted compared to later games but it was well balanced and seemed harder to cheese compared to later installments. The story was solid too and simpler before things got more complicated. I was a bit surprised how much i enjoyed replaying this one. Managed to actually beat Sephiroth which i thought was impossible as a kid which was cool for me.

    KH COM

I really enjoyed this game. I've always felt like this game had a negative reception because its card based battle but i loved it and felt like it was really refreshing after playing one. I also enjoyed the story a ton and felt like it was a lot less shallow than 1. This was a really fun one to play through.

    KH2

I haven't played this since it released but i had alot of good memories of it. That being said while i still enjoyed the game i did not enjoy the combat as much as 1. It was simplified alot and felt that magic was really de emphasized. I did enjoy he expanded worlds but i felt like the story got a bit crazy in this one. I did feel like i understood it better than when i first played it, having played COM this time. Also beat Sephiroth in this as well, childhood enemy conquered!

    KH 358/2

I love this game and really enjoyed playing it over again. It has great combat and probably my favorite story in the series. Its straightforward and linear but it works with the context of the story. I really liked rooting for roxas and its adds incredible weight to his decision in 2. This was the beginning of me enjoying how these other games fit into the overall story of the series.

    KH BBS

This game was awesome. Great combat system , magic upgrade system, and awesome story. I wasn't all into playing 3 diff characters visiting the same worlds but i liked that they were different parts of the world that would of made up 1 world anyway in any other KH game. Until i played 3 i felt like they perfected the combat here.

    KH DDD

I have mixed feelings about this game. Parts of the story are good and i enjoyed the worlds in this game alot. But while i was sort of keeping up with the overall story for the most part i felt like this takes a sharp left turn. I know it basically sets up for 3 but it just felt kinda unnecessary with some of the decisions and left more questions than answers. I was not a big fan of the combat system especially after playing BBS as well. The dream eater stuff felt like a chore and did not like the abilities system.

    KH3

Ok, i love this game. I love the combat, i love how the story ties things up, the worlds, the graphics. To me this was the culmination of everything KH. Is it perfect? Nope but i felt the narrative was satisfying given how convoluted the overall story got at this point. This was easily the most fun to play KH game for me. I just wish it was a bit more difficult( I tried critical but that was legitimately insane, i feel like a difficulty between critical and proud would be perfect) and that there were more hidden bosses similar to the previous games. The combat gives you a ton of options on how you want to play, and while it can be overwhelming its extremely satisfying.

I did find it kinda jarring there were no FF characters seeing how much they were featured in earlier games and no coliseum was a bit disappointing but overall this was an awesome game. Surprisingly i enjoyed the gummi missions alot more in this than any of the other ones.

If i had to rank them it would based solely on how much i enjoyed playing through them:

    KH3

    KH BBS

    KH 1

    KH 358/2

    KH COM

    KH2

    KH DDD

TL:DR I didn't hate any of these games but i gained a new respect for the series. I liked that they try to make every game feel important no matter what console it was released on and enjoyed seeing the series evolve. I didn't agree with every decision but it was cool to see the developers take risks in each game to change things up.

It felt weird finishing KH3 like almost finishing a tv show that you been watching for years finally coming to its conclusion but i really enjoyed playing through these games and experiencing the story(so far).

Possibility of a Revenge Value visualizer?

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 10:11 PM PDT

This is just me being curious about the possibilities of the PC modding scene and if there could be an eventual way to visualize the revenge value "bar" of enemies when going against them in any of the KH games, but mostly for KH3 at the moment. I just think it would be a neat tool for those that want to get a better understanding of RV's in a more visual fashion. Similar to how it was visualized in KH2FM by ahirun255 ~8 years ago. Except in its own visual asset and not replacing health bar values. Not sure if its already been attempted with those mod menu mods, but just felt like putting the question out there.

The Kingdom Hearts Versus 13 Theory (2021 Version)

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 07:03 PM PDT

The Kingdom Hearts Versus 13 Theory (2021 Version)

First of all I would like to clarify that this is ONLY a theory. (This is an updated reddit post from my previous one)

I believe that Nomura is disappointed that his Versus 13 game got cancelled. The purpose of this theory is to prove that a future Kingdom Hearts game will be the revival of Versus 13. Or at least a future KH game will have many aspects or pay homage to the cancelled Versus 13 game.

    Versus 13 Evidence:

    · Verum Rex means True King, the theme of Kings and Princes plays a big role in Versus 13 and FF15.

    · Sora means Sky and Yozora means Night Sky in Japanese. Noctis means night in latin.

    · In the old Versus 13, Noctis's girlfriend was Stella, Yozora's girlfriend became a nameless star in KH3. Stella in latin means star.

    https://preview.redd.it/jpwvsiwsmmu61.png?width=1619&format=png&auto=webp&s=b5b90300765d8a9518d7cccb9e86ca4e3c7aadd4

    · In the toy story cut scene, Yozora's friends (Aegis and Magia) look similar to Prompto and Ignis, who are from Versus 13. (Fun fact: In Latin, Aegis means Shield, Magia means Magic)

    https://preview.redd.it/qm7v30hbnmu61.png?width=1310&format=png&auto=webp&s=70167bdb306a84e5855a8686569099a7400e4432

    · Also, the ReMind DLC car scene (After you beat Yozora) is exactly like the car scene with Noctis in the Versus 13 trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J97SaRCLedI

    · The item you receive for beating Yozora is called the "Crystal Regalia". The Regalia is Noctis's car and crystals are famous to be in every final fantasy game

    · In the Kingdom Hearts 3 Secret Ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7YaNjUe01o At the 1 minute and 30 second mark, it plays the same music as Final Fantasy Versus 13 song called Somnus.

    Luxord, the man from Quadratum:

    · Yozora's limo driver is Luxord. (Confirmed to be the same voice actor)

    · The wild card Luxord gives to Sora, is possibly a card that summons Yozora to sora's dimension, thats why Luxord says "it could turn the tables", because as his driver he would know what Yozora is capable of.

    · Also, you saw Yozora sleeping in the car right? He used the same ability Sora used to travel through dreams in Dream Drop Distance, that's why Luxord said "impressive is it not?" because he's bringing technology/magic from Sora's universe to Yozora's universe.

    An Oath to Return:

    · At the end of several kingdom hearts games in the Xehanort Saga, it says "Kingdom Hearts Reconnect".

    · The new saying now is "An Oath to Return", to signify Sora's awaited return back home in future games.

    · So basically, all of Sora's friends will try to get Sora home while going to Square Enix Worlds, and at the end of this new saga everyone will be back home (An Oath to Return).

    · Let me explain in the Xehanort saga, it said "Kingdom Hearts Reconnect" because Sora had to reconnect everyone back together, (Roxas and Xion back together, Terra and Ven back together). Now "An Oath to Return" will be to get everyone back home.

    · Yozora's girlfriend is clearly dead for some reason since we see her in the final world, what I believe is possibly the Master of Masters makes a deal with Yozora to save Sora and bring him home in exchange to get his girlfriend back (Stella).

(Fun facts about 13) Every Coincidence/Words that have 13 letters each:

    · Sora Riku Kairi, Roxas Axel Xion, Wayfinder Trio, Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura, Seven Thirteen, Dearly Beloved, Yoko Shimomura (composer for KH music), Hollow Bastion, Radiant Garden, Destiny Island, End of the World, Mark of Mastery, Ansem's Reports, Light Darkness, Terra-Xehanort, Ventus-Vanitas, Lingering Will, and Young Xehanort. And just for fun, 13 numbers/letters are in Final Fantasy 7, Donald Use Cure, The hydra's back.

    Other number 13 related facts:

    · Excluding 358/2 days, if you add the numbers in all the KH titles, 1+2+3+1.5+2.5+2.8+0.2 = 13.

    · There are 13 floors in Castle Oblivion in Chain of Memories.

    · There are 13 weird symbols around the black box.

    · In the cinematic intro to KH1, the letter M is zoomed in. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet.

    Foreshadowing For Quadratum:

The KH1 Cover Art foreshadows the artificial Kingdom Hearts we see in KH2 and the Dark City that is below the World That Never Was.

The KH2 Cover Art foreshadows the cloudy blue skies and pillars that we see in the Final World.

The KH3 Cover Art foreshadows that we will be playing in Quadratum where Yozora lives in.

    https://preview.redd.it/voqol465tmu61.png?width=1670&format=png&auto=webp&s=849df487ddc647026534bac0316a2cb6de0c653b

    Melody of Memory Evidence:

    · Versus 13 was a game made by Square Enix. The city Yozora lives in is called Quadratum, Quadratum in Latin means Square.

    · Ansem the Wise says Yozora's world is the "other side", he calls it "Unreality" or "Fiction". Another word for fiction is Fantasy. The theme for Versus 13 was "A Fantasy based on Reality".

What do you all think? Will a future Kingdom Hearts game be the revival of the cancelled Versus 13 or at least have many similar aspects of Versus 13? Was "The World That Never Was" actually Versus 13? lol. Let me know if there is anything else I missed.

I have a question for those who have read a specific crossover fanfiction

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 11:59 PM PDT

I I have read the fanfiction myself but I went to see what other people think about it since I honestly believe it's pretty good but I seem to have questionable taste since I actually enjoyed the Monster Hunter movie despite everyone hating it. I believe some of you all have read before called the key of the Titans? And for those of you who have not read the fanfiction here is the link https://m.fanfiction.net/s/12988504/1/The-Key-of-the-Titans
