The Disney Villains were at their best in KH1

    Posted: 24 Feb 2022 06:55 PM PST

It was the only game where they actually felt like a threat. They formed a Legion of Doom to conquer all worlds. They plunged countless worlds into darkness and captured most of the Disney princesses by the start of the game. They took over the homeworld of the FF characters and used it as their base of operations. They manipulated Riku into turning against Sora.

Their dynamic was interesting. All members of the Legion of Doom were treated as equals to Maleficent instead of minions. They are interested in taking over the universe but put that secondary to the plans they have for their respective worlds. They let Maleficent be the leader not because they are scared of her, but because she knows what the deal is with Kingdom Hearts, the PoH, the Heartless, and is experienced in how the world order works by this point. Tellingly in the sequels, Hades and Oogie Boogie aren't afraid to talk back to Maleficent. There was also no infighting and they didn't attempt to betray each other. Compare this with Organization XIII whose members tend to fight each other as much as they fight the heroes.

Since the Disney Villains had knowledge of the world order in KH1, it allowed them to be an obstacle to a larger objective. Jafar and Ursula were after their world's keyhole to plunge it into darkness and Hades manipulated Cloud into killing Sora so he won't interfere with their plans. The Disney Villains already knew that Sora was a threat so they made several attempts to kill him and wanted to find the keyhole before he did.

Similar to the Light from Young Justice, the Disney Legion of Doom found a way to make a loss a victory. For example, even though Sora eliminated one of their members(Jafar), they still captured a PoH(Jasmine) leaving Agrabah with a downer ending. Earlier in the game, they captured Alice leaving Wonderland with a downer ending. They didn't play around and there was urgency.

They also had fun and creative boss battles. The roster for the Disney Legion of Doom was perfect. It consisted of iconic Disney Villains such as Maleficent, Hades, Jafar, Ursula, Captain Hook, and Oogie Boogie.

The Disney Villains were at their strongest in KH1. They were a Legion of Doom that knew of the wider world which allowed them to be a threat on a larger scale. It's disappointing that the Disney Villains after KH1 were reduced to filler characters with no impact on the overarching plot.

Which users attack with the teeth of the Keyblade?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 09:28 AM PST

I've seen Riku in KH1 do it with the keyblade of heart (link 1), and recently noticed that Mickey uses the Star Seeker the same way in BBS (link 2). Also, in that cutscene where Ven teleports behind Xehanort (link 3), Wayward Wind has the teeth on the wrong side for some reason (if he didn't actively avoid using the teeth his combos would look much more fluid with his backhand grip)

Has anyone noticed these details or is it just me? Are there any other users or attacks that strike with the "teeth"?

358/2 days before Birth By Sleep?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:01 AM PST

I'm coming up to the end of KH2 after only having played KH1 and a watching a summary of chain of memories and 358/2 days. I've heard that experiencing the story of 358/2 days for yourself is worth the play despite the gameplay, but with my current schedule these games have taken 1-2 months to get through. This would change later this year.

My question is: if I play birth by sleep next, will my experience be lessened by not having played 358/2 first?

What would your opinion be if there was a Musou-style Kingdom Hearts game?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 01:40 AM PST

If you don't know what that is it's like Hyrule Warriors' and Persona 5 Strikers' style gameplay

Unfortunately, I Think That I'm The Only Person Who Thinks Roxas And Hayner Is A Cute Pairing...

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:47 AM PST

I love their friendship way too much, I wish more people talk about it, and their connection is really strong; I know they are just friends and stuff but it's sweet. (Yea they didn't have an entire connection like Axel or Xion, but their bond was almost just as strong within the small time they had together.) Hayner was the main one out of the Twilight Trio to keep hanging onto Roxas's memories the most even though he barely remembered him in kh2 and in kh3 it was absolutely adorable seeing that small close-up of how interested he was about Roxas when staring at their picture calling him a 'cool guy' and stuff. There's also no complaints about being 'too old' 'siblings' or anything like that stuff that I've heard from several fans when it comes to Xion, Axel, and Namine which makes the pairing better in my opinion; they've also always had the closest bond of the Twilight Trio if you compare those two from Olette and Pence, like the way they got into a large fight then had their momentary sweet scene of being friends again, also the placing of being the only two out of the Twilight Trio to make a promise to fight in the tournament together while bumping elbows with eachother. Looking back, their bond was really good and regardless if you see them as a cute pairing or friendship, Hayner and Roxas were really good friends and their connection is absolutely adorable, I know they probably can't amount to other couples or anything, but I really love their dynamic and relationship in so many ways.

What level should I be for the data fights?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:45 AM PST

Playing on Proud. I'm currently at level 76. I'm not a bad player, but I wouldn't call myself a pro. Is there any more I could do besides having a lot of items?

Do You Think Any Character Is Over-Rated; If You Do Which One Is It?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2022 02:34 AM PST

What was your favorite fight in bbs? I'd say mine was Ventus's final fight against Vanitas, the fight itself isn't that mind blowing, however the setting and unbreakable chains playing in the background more than makes up for it
